What People Are Saying
You can instantly feel the high vibe the moment you walk into this place. Wow. It has a very open and inviting feel the moment you step in. It was my first time attending a Mantra & Kundalini class and I’m so glad I did at the C Yoga studio with instructor Teresa. The class was beautiful and filled with gentle poses and uplifting mantras – all designed to energize and lift the spirit. Gotta say – it delivered! I left the session relaxed and happy. That said, it is also a place to let go. I found it to be a very safe place, whether a pro or an amateur. If you have ever thought about going to a Kundalini yoga class, expanding your practice, or looking for a reputable yoga studio in the area, I highly recommend this place… and I hand’s down recommend Teresa’s classes.CARLA GOMEZ

Yoga entered my life in middle age as a solution to the many aches and pains of a lifelong active lifestyle including competitive sports at the Masters level. Not only did I discover the amazing benefits of a regular and rigorous practice, but I also discovered that there were whole parts of myself that had been deeply buried during years of working, multi-tasking and child-rearing. Yoga teacher training and regular practice has helped me to show up as a more authentic, accepting, imperfect, patient and loving version of myself. What’s better than that?

Minimalist and plant eater, Kelli is a native San Diegan with a fierce love of nature and sustainability. Kelli found her love of yoga through Ashtanga, practicing in the early hours before work and school. After graduating with Bachelor’s in Communication, she downsized her life, sold all her belongings, and hit the road. Traveling in a trailer with a consistent yoga practice seemed daunting to her and her husband, but instead proved to be life-changing therapy. Kelli heard the call to be a yoga teacher shortly after returning home to San Diego, and completed her RYT-200 certification in Hatha and Vinyasa Yoga in 2017.
Nicole’s yoga journey began in 2007 when her mom took her to her very first class. Slowly yoga began to show up more and more in her life. By 2011, a regular yoga practice developed after becoming a mommy for the very first time! She learned that self-care was essential to living a fulfilling life AND for caring for others! After receiving a bachelors degree in neuroscience 2016, Nicole decided to expand her knowledge of people and become a yoga instructor so she could help students to discover the same benefits she had, and more, by combing both a science perspective and a spiritual healing practice! In 2018, she was trained in restorative yoga and now teaches everything from powerful vinyasa flows to gentle restorative yoga. Her passion is anything that supports her students in feeling like their best selves!

Time for another #tutorialtuesday demonstrated by our amazing Edith•Today’s pose is Supta Virasana/ Reclined Hero Pose! This pose stretches the quads, the quad attachments to the hip flexors and knees, the knees themselves, and outer hips. It’s a fantastic restorative pose and can help alleviate menstrual cramps.•- Start out in Rock Pose, the seated pose with your knees touching and sitting with your bum on your ankles- slide your ankles apart until you can sit in between your ankles and the base of your spine/bum can make contact to the earth- Once you can sit in between your ankles, plant your hands behind you and start to recline until your back is on the ground- Close your eyes and relax!•Tips:- This is a restorative pose but it’s very normal to find this pose very challenging, especially the first few times you do it- Try modifying by placing a block or blanket under your bum while you are working on sitting between your ankles. This can help you relax into the pose without it being overwhelming- Stay in Rock Pose if Reclined Hero is not yet accessible. Rock pose is still a fantastic stretch and opens up the same parts of the body to get ready for Hero!- Breathe, breathe, breathe! Slow, deep breathing will help you melt into this pose•Let us know what poses you would like to see in the upcoming weeks •#feetfaceforward#cyogastudio#shinealivenow
It’s time for #tutorialtuesday , demonstrated this week by @thelimberlinguist•The pose of the week is Utkata Konasana or Goddess Pose! This pose builds both strength and flexibility in our legs and hips•To do this pose:- Take your feet 3-4 feet apart, the exact distance will depend on your proportions as we are all built a little bit differently- Turn your toes out so they are parallel to the wide edge of your mat- Squat down, lowering your hips until your thighs are parallel to the earth. This may take a few breaths!- Tuck your tailbone down towards the earth and sit back slightly towards your heels. We tend to lean forward in this pose by default- Take hands to the knees, overhead, at heart center; this part is really just ‘window dressing’ as our owner @feetfaceforward would say. Find your favorite arm variation and hold that with the pose- Optional: go up onto your top toes to add an extra balance challenge in there!- Not Optional: breathing! Every inhale lift further out of your core and every exhale keep lowering your hips to the earth•It’s normal to feel your legs shake a lot in this pose it’s a deeply opening pose and takes a lot of strength to hold. Try to hold it for at least 3-5 breaths. The Sanskrit translates literally to: Fierce Angle Pose; so be fierce 🏼•Let us know what tutorials you want down below!•#shinealivenow#cyogastudio#feetfaceforward

Kundalini Yoga is a technology brought to the west by Yogi Bhajan. This technology can change the way you experience life. It has the potential to connect your mind, body and spirit with the universal consciousness. It is known to strengthen your nervous system and calm your nerves. This technology was designed to be shared with special, powerful people to remind themselves of who they are.
Yin classes are relaxing and have little active movement. Instead are a series of poses held for 3-5minutes. Poses are passive, targeting the hips, pelvis, inner thighs, lower spine and sometimes shoulders. Yin yoga is said to address connective tissue and fascia.
The art of being ok with your mind continuing to do what it does, while you respectfully observe it and derive comfort in the stillness of watching. There are a multitude of modalities from open to closed eye practices and a plethora of techniques to explore.
Iyengar Yoga is a specific form of hatha yoga with an emphasis on detail, precision and alignment. The development of strength, mobility and stability is gained by practicing asana (poses). These classes are wonderful to gain specific insight to poses and to learn the basics as well as master the not so basic.
All physical yoga is hatha yoga. In the west, we often refer to hatha classes as less vigorous physical practices. Hatha yoga consists of poses that are accessible by everybody with simple transitions and attention to being present.
Ashtanga yoga is the father of modern day vinyasa yoga, also linking breath to movement. It follows a specific sequence of postures and is divided into series.
Kids yoga is one of our passions. We believe that introducing kids to the technology of yoga as soon in their lives as possible is how we will change the world. Our students range from 2 month old babies to 12 year olds. Classes are age appropriate and delineated so as to derive the most benefit for the age group.
Sculpt is a combination of cardio movement and yoga poses to tone and strengthen the body. It is less meditative and more aerobic, giving the practitioner all the benefits of a raised heart rate whilst enjoying yoga poses.
